Marks Crane & Rigging provided a few cranes and transportation solutions for SPX. We hoisted three transformers that varied in weight from 118,750 lbs to 123,240 lbs. In order to accomplish this we used our 40 ton boom truck to undress the transformers. Once all accessories where off and boxed up we brought in our Terex AC250-1, a 300 ton all-terrain crane, to load the three transformers to our heavy haul trucks. We then moved our Terex AC250-1 and all three transformers to Hobbs, NM to be offloaded at the OXY South Hobbs Plant. Once on site we offloaded the three transformers to their designated pad locations. Then we used our 40 ton to dress them all back out with their accessories. From start to finish it was a total of 8 days of work.
I wanted to recognize one of your crane operators (David Clark) that set in place the rain water tanks last week for Excell. Not only is he a great operator but his positive attitude made an impression.
Those guys [the MCR crew] are very professional in what they do. They did everything asked and were very safe at doing it. I had a lot of comments from HES and upper management on how they handled themselves. I would like to thank you and the crew that you send me for making my job just a little easier.
We have been using a 300 ton all terrain crane to erect 290′ self supporting towers. I understand that many outfits do not max out their tip height very often and that Marks is likely no different. That said, the crew that was at the South Plains II Wind Project did an outstanding job of helping us erect our structures. They were prompt, professional, and most importantly, safe. We ran into some adverse ground conditions during the early stages of this project and Marks was able to work through them to help us meet our deadlines. I would recommend your service to anyone and look forward to working together in the future.
I wanted to let you know the great job that Justin Moffett has recently done for us. We had a relatively difficult lift of a 50,000 gal tank in Lubbock, TX and ran into a few site and logistics issues. Justin was able to go back to the site with one of our techs in order to take additional measurements and modify the lift plan to allow the lift to proceed safely and as scheduled. Without Justin’s flexibility and intimate knowledge of the crane capacities, the lift would have had to be postponed.
